Marion K / "Oh - It's Really You"

Created by John 12 years ago
The last time I saw Elaine was in Fairfield, Iowa, Christmas 2010. It was Christmas Eve and we were getting together at Kate's. She was very happy to be with her family and did not expect to see me. I hadn't seen her for 3 years and thought she looked very frail. As soon as she saw me she said "Oh - it's you - you're really here!" and burst into tears. I asked her what made her cry and she said she was very happy as she had thought she wouldn't see me again. She wanted me to sit beside her and held my hand all the time. She had a wonderful evening swapping stories with everyone and reminiscing - so much so that Stan arranged with the nursing home for her to be able join everyone again on Christmas Day. It was wonderful to see Elaine so happy with her family - she had a child-like joy about her. I am grateful I had the opportunity to hug her and to say what turned out to be our final "Adieu". Go with God. Marion Family was always the most important thing to Elaine, and despite undergoing many difficult times she always valued her family above all else.
